Trey Gellert, DVM

Trey Gellert grew up on his family’s Angus cattle farm in Southeastern Indiana and enjoys returning home to work with cattle on weekends. In high school, he played sports and participated in 4-H, where he showed cattle.

He attended Purdue University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences in 2016. During his undergraduate studies, Trey was involved in boar research projects and worked on large, breed-to-wean sow farms. Trey then went on to attend Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in the spring of 2020. While in veterinary school, he chose to focus on the food animal track, specializing in cattle and pigs. During the summers, he gained experience working on dairies, the Indiana State Fair, and as an intern at a cow-calf practice in North Dakota.

Throughout his clinical year, Trey worked exclusively with large animals and had the opportunity to work with various veterinary practices, including Stock Vets in Rensselaer, Indiana; Smithfield Pork in North Carolina; Steele Veterinary Clinic in North Dakota; AMVC in Frankfurt, Indiana; and Four Star Veterinary Service (FSVS) in Chickasaw, Ohio. Currently, he works as an associate veterinarian with Minton Veterinary Service, based out of Chickasaw.

Trey lives in Troy, Ohio, with his golden retriever, Reagan. He enjoys being close enough to help on the family farm in Indiana and to be involved in the lives of his nephews and niece as they grow up. He also loves coaching his nephews in basketball and helping them prepare to show cattle.
